COLOR WHEEL

Identifying colors is a very important exercise for a toddler's brain development. Color wheel can be easy and fun way to teach your kid how to spot colors and increase vocabulary at the same time. So, lets find out how you can make a color wheel at home and how to play it with your toddler.

Make a color wheel at home

Material required - White paper, pencil, ruler, colors

Step 1 - Take one white paper and cut it in a round shape.

Step 2  -  Create a pencil sketch to divide the paper into different parts, which will be colored using different colors. You can divide the wheel in any way you want. We have shown in the picture, one of the easy and efficient schemes. You can choose the number of parts based on different colors you have at your disposal.

Step 3 - Color different parts using different colors. Your color wheel is ready!!!

How to play

Step 1 - Place the color wheel on floor.

Step 2 - Keep ready different colorful objects or cutouts to be placed on the wheel (you can prepare cutouts from magazines or coloring books that you may have or simply print some pictures from internet).

Step 3 - Show your child all the colors on the wheel and teach him their names.

Step 4 - Give your child one of the cutouts or objects and ask him to place the cutout on the matching color on the color wheel.

Step 5 - Repeat this activity using different objects/cutouts. Tell your child the name of the object/cutout and the name of the color every time he performs the activity, this will help him increase his vocabulary.

 Tips

Once, your child is familiar with the game, you can ask him to choose the objects/cutouts by himself. This will improve his in decision making temperament. Also, it is OK if your child do not say out loud the names of colors and objects or if he makes mistakes in matching the colors. Important is that he has fun and that you teach him with patience. It is only with this combination, learning can be fun for him.
